Film Director Iwai Shunji, who has reveled the world with his artistic imagery and worldview.
And Japan beloved musician, Sakamoto Ryuichi.
Sakamoto Ryuchi, active in the environment and society, has miraculously come together with Iwai Shuji.
Though coming from film and music, as two creators what are these two men thinking and feeling - - Now revealed.

topic0201_7.jpgThe little boy who believed himself to be the reincarnation of Debussy, in high school he found Jazz and Rock and Rock and joined the student activist movement.
In 1978, he formed Y.M.O and established his place as a Film Composer with "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" and "Last Emperor".
On the other hand full of political statements, he formed "ap bank" with Kobayashi Takeshi and Sakurai Kazutoshi, and is also proactive in fighting for the environment.
A musician and an activist. And on the occasion, a guest on variety TV shows.
A man who at first seems hard to grasp, what does Professor Sakamoto see in this day and age?

Composer

Born 1952. He debuted in 1978 with "Sen no Knife" and in the same year joined YMO.
After the break up of YMO, he composed for numerous films and received world wide recognition including an Academy Award. Ever since his 1999 opera, "LIFE", he has become a lead proponent in environmental, peace, and societal issues.
After the terrorist attacks of 9.11, he published "Hisen".
He also established a pro-natural energy artist collective, "artists' power".
In 2006 he opened "stop-rokkasho.org" following the Rokkasho Village protest against nuclear energy.
In July of 2007, he established "more trees", a limited liability intermediary corporation, where members are active to stop global warming. Also in 2006, he put together "commons" in effort to establish a new music community.
In 2009 at the ECHO festival, he received the "Echo Award" for his efforts to make music production more echo-friendly.
In July of the same year, he received L'ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture. And in 2010, he received the Artist's Award from the Agency of Cultural affairs and has continued to receive international recognition for his work.
And in 2011 after the East Japan Earthquake, he established "LIFE311 by more trees", "kizunaworld.org", "Kodomo no Ongaku Saisei Kikin - School Music Revival" for ongoing support.

He moved to the United states in 1990, and presently lives in NYC.
